Project Description
Designer responsible for developing a multi generational play facility proposal to sit adjacent to the key Park Plaza of Helix Central Park.
The objective was to create an unfenced and safe play area which encouraged social interaction and provided a ‘destination’ adjacent to key public transport routes.
Ironside Farrar developed a play area including elements which stimulate and develop rocking, touch and social play, sliding, swinging or climbing and other pieces that encourage more adventurous climbing, swinging, balancing, rotating or gliding.
Access for all play equipment has been included and elements which are more sensory in stimulation introduced. Jumping pillows introduce an element for all ages and reinforce the ‘destination’. The focus of the whole Helix project is connections and linkages between communities and the play area has been developed to further support the needs of the local communities.
